“Denial in the network”

Increasing attention is drawn to the problem of HIV and AIDS, in particular to the problem of denial of their existence. HSE-researchers contributed to the understanding of this phenomenon, describing existing online community of AIDS- dissidents.

In the journal "Sociological studies (SOCIS) for the year 2016 were published an article by Yuri Rykov and Olesia Koltsova, in collaboration with Peter Meylakhs.

The title of the article "The Structure and function of online communities: a network mapping of HIV-relevant groups in social network "Vkontakte"" - aptly reflects its content. Authors analyzed the structure of networks of friendship and communication activity of the participants of the online groups that are relevant to the topic of HIV/AIDS in a social network “Vkontakte”.
