We are pleased to announce the start of SocInfo 2018 conference!

On September 25-28 in St. Petersburg is taking place the largest international conference on Social Informatics, which is hosted this year by Higher School of Economics with LINIS organisational support.

Today is the first day of the SocInfo2018 conference, which was waited and prepared during the whole last year by the Laboratory. We are glad to welcome the participants at the HSE campus on Griboedov Emb., 123.

On the first day the participants of the conference visited various workshops. Robert Ackland presented his workshop "Big Data for Social Scientists", in which he demonstrated how to analyze data from Twitter using VOSON software developed with his participation.

The workshop of Matteo Magnani and Luca Rossi "Analysis of Multiplex Social Networks with R" was devoted to the basics of complex network analysis in R.

Sergei Koltsov introduced the basics of the thematic modeling method and the principles of working with the TopicMiner program, which was developed for the Internet Research Laboratory, in his workshop "Topic Modeling in Practice: Rules of Thumbs for Mining Topics with TopicMiner Software".

The materials of the workshops can be found on the conference website.
