Linis Fellows have participated at XV April International Conference HSE in Moscow

LINIS has organized two sessions: Social and Cultural Issues in Social Media (the chairman O. Koltsova) and Methods of the Internet as a Social and Cultural Phenomenon (the chairman S. Bodrunova).

The conference featured a number of LINIS fellows’s reports. O. Koltsova submitted the report Livejournal Libra! Influence of the Political Blogosphere on Political Mobilization in Russia in 2011-12.

Studying the relationship between popular Russian blogs content and elections ratings of political parties as well as presidential candidates in the 2011-12 elections.

The presentation S.Bodrunova (co-authored with S.Nikolenko, A.Shimorina) is Political Actors or Ritualized Other? Mapping ethnic discourse in the Russian blogosphere was results of the first phase of the study for discourse concerning ethnic groups and nations in the Russian blogosphere as an example of top bloggers LiveJournal.

The report of P. Meylakhs and Y. Rykov (HSE - St. Petersburg ) is Online Community AIDS dissidents in the Social Network VKontakte: Structure and Rhetorical Strategies. It presented qualitative and quantitative approaches to the analysis of virtual communities.

O. Koltsova (co-authored with S. Nicolenko and S. Koltsov) has spoken on Community co-commenting on LiveJournal: principles of formation, which dealt with the structure of the discussions and communities on LiveJournal.

The report of S. Koltsov (co-authored with O. Koltsova) is How Much and What Popular and Ordinary Bloggers Say: Spin Doctors vs Vox Populi considered the first results of an extensive comparative study of the top and ordinary LiveJournal blogging terms of their structure and themes.
