RuSSIR held in Nizhny Novgorod, the next one will be at HSE (St. Petersburg)

HSE in St. Petersburg and LINIS will take summer school RuSSIR. After a year or two - this issue is still under discussion by the organizers. A final decision is expected this fall.

Summer school RuSSIR 2014 for Information Retrieval took a place in Nizhny Novgorod from 18-22 August. This year it organizes by HSE with large IT-companies - Yandex, Mail.ru, Google and others. 

Its aim is to provide undergraduate and graduate students the opportunity to have specialized lectures from leading researchers. At this time seven interesting scientists came, six of which are foreign.

In the past year, the school held at the University of Kazan, this time, the participants gathered in Nizhny Novgorod. Next school is likely to take place at HSE in St. Petersburg.

"We will conduct RuSSIR in St. Petersburg, but it remains a question of "when". School is held every year for many years, but this time, perhaps, we will hold it in two years, as attracting foreign researchers needs more time", – says deputy director of LINIS Sergei Koltsov, which went to the school for meeting with organizers. 

Koltsov also added that the question of the exact dates of the next RuSSIR will be decided in October.
