Russian-Chinese collaboration

The head of the Laboratory for Internet studies Olessia Koltsova returned from the journey to China. 

At the invitationof Dr. Zhang Wei, an employee of the Department of Informatics in healthcare, Olessia Koltsova, visited Huazhong University of science and technology in Wuhan, China.

During the visit, Olessia Koltsova lectured on the influence of online communities on health in Wuhan, as well as reported about the Internet and the protests at the seminar on risk-management in the city of Changsha.

The main goal of this journey was to discuss the prospects of scientific cooperation in the field of Internet and health, and it was found a common ground. As possible areas for joint research were identified: health information search and health knowledge sharing on the Internet-sites; communication between doctor and patient in online communities; quality of health information on the web; social media news related to health issues and their influence on public opinion. In addition, the Chinese partners have expressed interest in research internships for their students in the Laboratory for Internet studies.
